It’s Time

Rett is eating and eating.  I think it is time to start into some real food.  I am having a hard time wanting to feed him though.  This baby is growing up just as fast as the others did!  We have been giving him a bottle when he just isn't quite feeling full.  The kids love getting a chance to feed him.

I did buy rice cereal and brought up the high chair.  I guess he is determined to get big much to my dismay and I am going to have start letting him be the big boy that he is!

Checking It Twice

The kids have been going over their back to school lists and getting the backpacks all packed, it’s a bitter sweet feeling for me.  It will be nice and quiet at my house, but lonely also.  The kids are ready, ready, ready though.

What’s Going On

We haven’t been up to much lately.  Ryan has been combining grain like crazy and is working LONG hours already, I am sad to have harvest start so early!  We went to see him Tuesday and ride with him.  I didn’t take my camera, he is driving a brand new John Deere combine, it is huge and can cover lots of ground quickly, not quick enough for me though!  With both machines going they can harvest more than 100 acres a day.  Only 43 more days to go, of grain harvest anyway!  I will have to take pictures next time we go to ride with him.  I just kept thinking of Frank off of Cars gobbling up all of that wheat, it was cool.

The girls have had piano this week and that has been it.  We played at the park while they were having lessons.

I got the kindle app on the ipad and got a good book off of Amazon the other day.  My reading days have begun again.  I read about 30 books last harvest, we will see if I get that many in with Rett around.  It really helps pass the lonely hours at night.

I have been couponing again and have spent a lot of time working on different scenarios and scoping out deals.

103_0952

These are not pictures of my latest shopping trip, we cleaned out the suburban today and this is all of the “good” stuff that was in it.  There were three other sacks full of garbage too.  It is just ridiculous the amount of stuff that gets hauled mostly in and out of that car. We found all sorts of treasures like pink blank, two pair of boots, sippy cups,  flip flops, not to mention all of the pieces of gum and candy I throw back to the kids while we are driving that gets lost under the seats.  I am pretty sure I will get better gas mileage now!

We are just about ready for school to start.  I am not real happy to be sending the kids back just yet.  Maybe by the 30th I will be ready.  We are trying to do a couple of fun things before we get back to it, tomorrow we are going to the library.

Sunday Shots

We had an excellent Sunday again.  The Primary Presidency spoke in Sacrament meeting (including Sara) and they all did a great job.  The lessons were about our testimony in song, becoming like a little child, and the Holy Ghost.  I enjoyed it all.  Sunday School was really good also, Rett slept so I could sit through it all.  He didn’t sleep through Relief Society, hopefully he will start getting better when he can sit up and play with toys.

We spent the afternoon out playing baseball at Justins request of course.

I have loved getting the paper, so has Ryan and Rett likes the noise it makes when he is trying to kick it or eat it!

103_0938

We went out to check water and see Bobby and Sara’s house progress.  They already have a pet waiting there for them, he was a big old hoot owl!

103_0939

They broke ground on it this week.  It is so exciting to finally be going on it.  They hope to be in it by Christmas, we are keeping our fingers crossed for them!

103_0940

Claire got some new “saddles”  (sandals) this week.

103_0941

Ryan's work pickup is back, finally!  He was hoping to have a new pickup so he didn’t have to go back to this one but he has not found a good replacement yet.  He has been looking HARD for at least 3 weeks.  He is determined not to settle for just any pickup, he is going to get what he wants this time.  I bet it wont be until after harvest now, but this one should work until then.

103_0942

While we were at the dairy loading up Ryan’s tools the neighbors showed up.  They had a great time getting dirty at the dairy.

103_0946

We spotted some of our original gold fish from about 5 years ago, they are at least a foot long, and they were so pretty!

103_0945

We are not happy to send Ryan back to work tomorrow.  The kids and I are going to work on an “agenda”  for the rest of the summer.  We are really excited about that!  Hopefully these last few weeks don’t fly by, I'm getting a little sad about sending my baby boy off, I haven't thought much about it until recently.  Hopefully we wont be to lonely with out him!

First (REAL) Day of Summer

We finally just enjoyed a non busy day of summer.  We didn’t do a stitch of laundry, no mowing, no weeding, no cleaning, no nothing!  Instead we jumped,

Twisted,

And watched a movie!  It was so nice, just what we have been needing!  I hope we can find the time to do it again before school starts!

Garden Party

We hosted a Relief Society Garden Party last night.  It was a lot of work to get ready for, but I was glad to have all of the work done in my yard.  Ryan weed wacked for 4 hours for me the other night.  We got lots of work done that probably wouldn’t have happened other wise, so I was glad to play host!

Everything turned out great, I always have that last minute feeling of panic on parties, but once it got started everything was there and everything turned out fine!

103_0914

We had yummy wraps ( I got a recipe from Kristen) and fruit with the chocolate fountain (another thing from Kristen).  Then we also had icey water and lemonade.  It was all really good and Sara came to help me get it all put together.  I was telling her we need to keep track of all of the parties we have put on together, I guess I kind of am keeping track….

There were just over 20 people, which was just right, I planned on 20.

103_0915103_0916

It was really low key, we just ate and had a short lesson and then watched the slide show of everyone's yards that I put together.  I think it was a hit!

103_0917

We had a great evening, the weather was perfect and all of the hard work was worth it!

Sunday (NIGHT) Shots

I posted my Sunday Shots to early this week!  We ended up going out to ride with Ryan to check water.  The kids picked me some sunflowers, notice the long stems!

107_0011

Our pivot of wheat is turning golden, I could get a picture of the house from where we were but I had to zoom all the way out to get it.

107_0012

It was a really pretty evening.

107_0013

Claire provided me with something to photograph, she is such a character!

107_0014107_0016107_0018107_0019

The neighbors bull got into one of the corn pivots and just ate the tops off, it made for perfect hiding for Claire.

Rett is getting too big already.  He is such a happy baby!  We enjoyed our Sunday evening with our Dad!

Sunday Shots

Emma and I pulled another all nighter last night, this time Ryan stayed home with the sicky and I took the other kids to church.  I never like going alone, it is a lonely place to be with out the entire family.  Thankfully Grandma Violet ALWAYS comes to sit by us and helped keep Claire as quiet as Claire can be kept!  The testimonies were excellent, most of them talked about families.   Sunday School was great as was Relief Society, we are fortunate to have a lot of women who share and give input in the lessons.  I like hearing all of the personal experiences.

We spent the afternoon outside.  Justin was needing a roping lesson so we all went out to watch.   I guess I only took a picture of Emma roping the “dummy”  we have misplaced our real dummy so the barbie bike will have to do!

107_0002107_0003107_0004

This stinker hasn’t hardly slept a wink today, I guess he is just not tired?  He is getting big fast and fun too, we all enjoy him.

107_0005107_0008

We had a tragedy last night with Emma’s calf.  He got pneumonia and died!  I am so sad!  This is the first calf we have lost in three years.  I really am not wanting to start all over again with another either, it is to late in the season.  I don’t know what we will do.  Ashley’s is still doing well at least.

107_0001

The wheat is turning golden in the back ground.  I am NOT ready to start harvest, the thought of it  makes me really sad!  We barely got summer!  The garden is growing a lot now and we are just about to start harvesting a couple of different things like tomatoes and squash.  The cilantro and lettuce have been excellent.  It is the best lettuce I have ever had from my garden, not bitter at all.  It has been great.  We have been busy getting ready to host a Relief Society Garden Party in our yard.  I am nervous, I don’t know what I was thinking, hopefully it will turn out ok.

Moving Cows

Moving cows is a family affair around here.  We had to move them three times on Friday.  Once to the dairy and then we split them according to how they were bred and then back to the pastures they needed to be in.  Thankfully we had a lot of help besides family members.  Some of them are a little short to be much help!

All the kids like to run behind the cows, but they got a little tired and needed a ride.  Uncle Bobby stopped right in the end gun and got them all wet!

103_0929

Claire Bear and Jaci ran hand in hand most of the way.  They are best cousins.  Tayson kept up too.

Emma,

It is so fun to get to all work together on the farm!

New Niece!

Jared and Jenna had their new baby girl last week.  They named her Madelyn.  She is a princess baby for sure, Jenna had her all decked out complete with bracelet and hair bow!  She is so cute and has lots of dark hair, I think she looks just like her Momma!103_0917

Rett and I went up to spend the day so we could get to meet her and let her mommy have a little rest.  It was such a quiet day for me!  I loved it!  I think, it helped me more than it helped Jenna.  I got three days worth of work done in an afternoon!  It was awesome!

103_0916

Rett was a good little mister too.  Both babies slept a lot and were really good, we never had them both crying at the same time or anything.  I had a great day visiting with Jen and meeting sweet little Madelyn.  Thanks for letting us come!
