Winding Down Summer

I am so sad to be winding down our summer.  It is finally gotten really hot this week and now the kids are going to head back to school.  I am not ready for this!  We have been trying to squeeze as much activity into this last week as possible.  We have been doing a lot of cleaning and organizing.  Shannon bought me this cool disposal cleaner it shot 3 feet in the air this blue foam stuff and then went back down, it was pretty cool.

I had to take a picture but it was almost gone by the time I got the camera.  We are easily amused around here!

We had cousins and the Kent's come over earlier this week (was it really this week, it seems so long ago).  Anyway we had lunch and played a lot!

The girls keep up on all of the coupon clipping for me.  It is so nice, I didn’t clip one coupon this week, and they love to do it too.

We have done lots and lots of coloring and painting this week.

I have loved our new rule, no projects after 3:00.  It makes dinner time so much easier and we don’t have tons to clean up at evening time and before bed.  They can still play, just no creating, it’s been great.

We went to the park again during piano.  Rett is such a good smiler for me.  He is getting way to big already.

Claire doing a trick.

Justin’s mohawk.  He has been wanting one really bad so we finally did it.  I will buzz it all off tomorrow night, its fun, but not all the time.

He has done an number on his chin this week too.  He first bonked it on grandma’s bucking horse, then he almost split it on the corner of a wall.  Then Sunday he wanted a roll off of the hot pan and stuck his chin up on the counter to smell them and burned it.  He will look lovely for his first day of Kindergarten!  Oh BOYS!

Also this week we had Jaci over for a sleepover and the kids are going to sleep at her house tomorrow night just for fun.  We also stayed the night down at Grandma’s and I got to go out on the night shift with Ryan.  We hauled silage until 1:15 in the morning.  It was so fun to just drive and talk.  He has been so busy lately and we haven’t had much time together, let alone ALONE together.  It was nice.  Tonight we moved all of the combines and equipment to start harvesting up here.  Everyone came for a BBQ at our house since everyone was transporting equipment.  It was fun to play with more cousins and see everyone.  It will be nice to have Ryan up here for a couple of days (hopefully).  I’m not sure I am ready to commit back to a schedule.  Summer is just too fun!

What’s Going On

We haven’t been up to much lately.  Ryan has been combining grain like crazy and is working LONG hours already, I am sad to have harvest start so early!  We went to see him Tuesday and ride with him.  I didn’t take my camera, he is driving a brand new John Deere combine, it is huge and can cover lots of ground quickly, not quick enough for me though!  With both machines going they can harvest more than 100 acres a day.  Only 43 more days to go, of grain harvest anyway!  I will have to take pictures next time we go to ride with him.  I just kept thinking of Frank off of Cars gobbling up all of that wheat, it was cool.

The girls have had piano this week and that has been it.  We played at the park while they were having lessons.

I got the kindle app on the ipad and got a good book off of Amazon the other day.  My reading days have begun again.  I read about 30 books last harvest, we will see if I get that many in with Rett around.  It really helps pass the lonely hours at night.

I have been couponing again and have spent a lot of time working on different scenarios and scoping out deals.

These are not pictures of my latest shopping trip, we cleaned out the suburban today and this is all of the “good” stuff that was in it.  There were three other sacks full of garbage too.  It is just ridiculous the amount of stuff that gets hauled mostly in and out of that car. We found all sorts of treasures like pink blank, two pair of boots, sippy cups,  flip flops, not to mention all of the pieces of gum and candy I throw back to the kids while we are driving that gets lost under the seats.  I am pretty sure I will get better gas mileage now!

We are just about ready for school to start.  I am not real happy to be sending the kids back just yet.  Maybe by the 30th I will be ready.  We are trying to do a couple of fun things before we get back to it, tomorrow we are going to the library.

Down Home

We went out to take a cold drink to Ryan and the welder.   Welding is a hot job for a hot day!  This poor pivot has had a rough week, and so has Ryan!  It is just old and rusting apart, one of the pipes between the wheels rusted in half and the pivot point has been leaky all year and so he was finally getting it fixed.

On the way home I took a few pictures of the potatoes, they are looking good!

And the pasture and house,

Notice our “pink” pasture,(mostly under the Country Livn’ watermark) only the girls and I could pull that one off!  Not really, the pasture mix has pink flowers in it, it just usually gets eaten down before it blossoms.  We need some critters desperately to eat it so it isn't so hard to move our lines.  It is above the girls heads in some places, makes it REALLY fun to work in!

Buzzed!

Our grain was getting sprayed a couple of mornings ago and we couldn’t resist going out to watch.  He just kept getting closer,

103_0645

and closer,

103_0646

and REALLY CLOSE!

103_0647

He even let out a couple of puffs of black smoke for us and then after  he was done he buzzed right over the top of the house, it was so LOUD!

(HOPEFULLY no children were harmed in this fun activity!)

Popsicle kinda day!

We have been enjoying some LAZY days of summer! I wish it could be summer all year round, not Spring, or Fall, but SUMMER! I am loving having Ryan around the Richfield farm, this is how farming is supposed to be, when I get to see my husband throughout the day, and when he comes in for lunch, the kids have been able to ride around with him quite a bit too, so I know they are loving having their Daddy around also. He is glad to not be commuting much right now too. We have just been doing this and that. I am trying to get caught up on my blogging, real life has been too much fun to worry about blogging life! Sounds funny!

EMMA
Last week we stayed one night up in Arco while Ryan finished first cutting hay up there. It is always fun to sleep in the camper and watch movies, and no trip to Arco is complete with out a visit to Pickles Place! We had a fun two days anyway!
JUSTIN
Kiley and her family came through town and stayed for the night Monday. We enjoyed having boy cousins around, {and Jaci too}. Dallie is getting big, she is turning one this week, Wow, that has gone by fast!
ASHLEY (and Pinkie)
Tuesday morning I went up to girls camp for the day. I helped teach a fun class about hair braiding. I couldn't believe how some of the girls could catch on so fast! It was amazing! I also found out I DO NOT want to be a beautician, like I always thought I wanted to be, I will just stick to doing my own girls hair! (I don't know how Paige does it!)
CLAIRE BEAR
Summer is being very good to us, we have not even been swimming once, in Justin's prayer the other night he prayed that "Tomorrow bless that we can go swimming" It didn't work, we still haven't gone! We are planning to go on Friday, we have got to get signed up for swim lessons at some point too. Oh well, that is the joys of summer, not having to be tied to a schedule!

JACK, even he got to lick a Popsicle that fell in the grass, YUMMY! We are loving these "DOG" days of SUMMER!!
