Swimming Lessons In The Books

The kids finished another year of swim lessons.  It was an eventful year, I am glad it is over!  All of the kids really improved especially the big girls.  I didn’t venture to far from the little kiddie corner for fear of someone going under, which happened almost every. single. day.  hence the reason we were glad to be done!

Emma tried and tried to dive head first, but still didn’t quite get it.

Emma treading water.  It was a good thing I couldn’t watch her because the few times I did she barely had her nose out of the water and I was tempted to jump in and save her!  Her teacher really made her work hard and she made lots of improvement!

Emms jumping in!

Just and Jaci moved on to level two which had way too many kids in it and they didn’t get much attention and didn’t improve much at all (Justin that is)  He was crying by the end and even spent one day back in level one with Claire.  It was really too bad.  He did have a good time though and swims great with the family (when we go)  Hopefully next year will be a big year of improvement for him.

We liked his fun teacher, his name is Collin.

I could only get pictures of Ashley’s splash, she is always in and under.  She has had the least fear of all of our kids, which is nice.  She is doing really good.

Little brother had to be patient and wait and wait!  He LOVED swimming and was dunking his face in over and over.  He thought it was so funny, and so did we.

We always enjoy our good friends and playing at the park after swim lessons.  It is a fun tradition and will be great memories!

What’s Going On

We haven’t been up to much lately.  Ryan has been combining grain like crazy and is working LONG hours already, I am sad to have harvest start so early!  We went to see him Tuesday and ride with him.  I didn’t take my camera, he is driving a brand new John Deere combine, it is huge and can cover lots of ground quickly, not quick enough for me though!  With both machines going they can harvest more than 100 acres a day.  Only 43 more days to go, of grain harvest anyway!  I will have to take pictures next time we go to ride with him.  I just kept thinking of Frank off of Cars gobbling up all of that wheat, it was cool.

The girls have had piano this week and that has been it.  We played at the park while they were having lessons.

I got the kindle app on the ipad and got a good book off of Amazon the other day.  My reading days have begun again.  I read about 30 books last harvest, we will see if I get that many in with Rett around.  It really helps pass the lonely hours at night.

I have been couponing again and have spent a lot of time working on different scenarios and scoping out deals.

These are not pictures of my latest shopping trip, we cleaned out the suburban today and this is all of the “good” stuff that was in it.  There were three other sacks full of garbage too.  It is just ridiculous the amount of stuff that gets hauled mostly in and out of that car. We found all sorts of treasures like pink blank, two pair of boots, sippy cups,  flip flops, not to mention all of the pieces of gum and candy I throw back to the kids while we are driving that gets lost under the seats.  I am pretty sure I will get better gas mileage now!

We are just about ready for school to start.  I am not real happy to be sending the kids back just yet.  Maybe by the 30th I will be ready.  We are trying to do a couple of fun things before we get back to it, tomorrow we are going to the library.

First (REAL) Day of Summer

We finally just enjoyed a non busy day of summer.  We didn’t do a stitch of laundry, no mowing, no weeding, no cleaning, no nothing!  Instead we jumped,

And watched a movie!  It was so nice, just what we have been needing!  I hope we can find the time to do it again before school starts!

Fair Fun!

The last few years there has been a man performing at the fair.  He brings all sorts of instruments for the kids to play along with.  Our kids loved it.  I was glad Ash had cousins her age there because all of her friends (who were at the fair) kind of thought it was to kidish and didn’t stay to dance and play.

Claire bear playing the MARACASS!  shaka shake!

Emms on some kind of bells.

We also got to pet the mini horses and take a little ride, that was great fun!

This was the mamma horse

Claire took a ride first, the girls had skirts on so thankfully they had a little buggy so they could take a little ride.

Doesn’t that look fun!

103_0827

This was the BIGGEST steer ever!  You could guess his weight to win some money, we just took a picture by it instead!

Ryan and I went back the next night for the Rodeo.  It was fun, but not that fun!  Rett isn't the most fun date, I spent a lot of time looking for a place to feed him, then fed him, then changed him, next thing I knew the rodeo was over!  Pretty exciting!  It was nice to get out for a few minutes though and Ryan enjoyed himself!

County Fair!

Last week was the Lincoln County Fair and Rodeo.  We went down to the parade and to see all the exhibits.  We started out the parade with a bang, Claire fell and scraped both knees, so we rock-a-byed for a minute, well till the candy started coming anyway!

103_0807

Ashley insisted on making a jean skirt, so we did , not one but three!  Justin and Rett just happened to be in green too.   Justin asked me if people would think he was IN the fair if he dressed like a cowboy, sure enough people asked him, he was pretty excited!

The parade is my most favorite thing about the fair, this years parade was super long and was really fun!
