The Activity

Claire and I got a few Christmas decorations out this morning.  She was so excited to get to play with the “activity.”

The kids love our fisher price Nativity that we got last year from Erica, it is darling.  We are putting up the tree for family night tonight, its starting to look a lot like Christmas!

Sunday Shots: My Birthday

We traveled home from Washington Sunday, we did good, we only stopped twice, I am pretty sure that is a record!  We did go to Sacrament meeting in Basin City and then left after that.  The kids traveled pretty good.  We had our eggs and toast for Sunday night dinner and I got a candle in my half eaten toast!

103_1642

Ryan has to do the magic string trick every birthday.  The kids love it!

103_1643

We are not happy to be back to real life!  No one wanted to get out of bed, but thankfully the bus was running on our schedule today!

CHS Football!

While we were home we went to the football game.  It was great!  Our Connell Eagles were playing in the quarterfinals and they won!  Next week they will play for the state championship for like the third year in a row.  It was fun to see a few friends and be back cheering for the Eagles!

103_1638103_1639

Why is it that the high school kids now days look SO young!  Maybe its just me looking older?!

103_1640

The cheerleaders were darling too, it was fun to hear some of the same cheers from back in my day.  I love traditions like that!  Hopefully they will be the state champs next week!

Claire Bear and Breky

Claire and Brek had lots of fun at Grandma’s house.  They were pretty much into everything!  They figured out how to peel an orange and ate almost all of her cutie oranges and then put the stickers on themselves.  They had a great time!

Lots and lots of playing!

Going Home!

We got to go home to Washington for Thanksgiving.  I love to see the familiar sights and the kids get excited when we get to Grandma’s “town.”

103_1634

The blue bridge and cable bridge.

103_1635

I did really bad taking pictures while we were home, but I couldn’t resist taking pictures of the bridges!  It just looks like home!  We haven’t been to Washington since Christmas last year, we really need to go more often.  It was a nice trip home.

Polish

Claire Bear LOVES nail polish!!  The only bad part about it is trying to decide which color to wear……

Purple it is!  What a girlie girl!

Turkeys

Claire and I created some Oreo turkeys last week.  We had a Relief Society crafting day and I wanted to make these.  Mom had found them a couple of years ago and they are so easy and fun for the kids especially.  We used pink malt balls to make some “girl” turkeys this year.

103_1613103_1614

We used them as place card holders at the crafting night.  They are always a hit!

103_1615103_1616

The crafting turned out ok.  I have to admit I’m not much of a crafter anymore.  I don’t like to do it like I used to.  We had a great turnout though and lots of yummy food.   We had everyone bring a chicken dish to taste.  It was SO good.  I was too busy to eat much of it though and I came home hungry, I really don’t like it when I do that!  It is just to fun to visit and have fun with everyone.  I really love our ward!

Mom’s Must Do

Ashley has got me all lined out on what I need to do before we can go to Washington.

103_1633

I’m so lucky to have a personal secretary!  She even made a key up in the corner so I would mark things down correctly.  Now if I can just get it all done!!  Thanks Ash, how do I get anything done with out you!

Stuck…..Again

How many pictures do we have of Rett under or in or stuck in something!  He is so Kollin!

103_1608103_1609103_1610103_1611

He is army crawling now.  The girls call it the worm.  He can go forward now not just sideways rolling.  He is so fun!

Cousin Maddy

Rett is lucky to have a couple of cousins his age on both sides of our family.  It is interesting the difference in age when they are just months old, but when they are about 2 or 3 you cant tell much difference at all in a couple of months.  We got to spend a little time with Madelyn at out house.  My big girls have been wanting to see her more so bad and then they spent the day at Grandmas house with other cousins!  Maybe next time!

Maddy is a finger sucker!

103_1578

It looks like she is telling Rett what is what!!

103_1579103_1580

She reminds me so much of Emma as a baby with all of that dark long hair.  It was fun to have a little girlie girl around!

Twilight

Lain made each one of us a “team” shirt.  It was a really fun idea.  Now I just need to watch the movies! HA!

Sunday Shots

We had a sick day today.  Poor Emma had her Sunday sickness.  I hope we can get her figured out, I also hope it isnt really the flu this time.  We really don’t want to take it with us to Washington later this week either.  It was a nice quiet Sunday other than the sicky.  Claire bear made herself a paper manicure, she is so creative!

First Tastes

Claire Bear is good at sharing some things.  She shared a bite of her cupcake breakfast with Rett, he agreed with it and smacked his lips, yum, yum!

Oh what a BEAR!

Strawberry Jam!

The strawberry jam genetics run strong in our family.  I am pretty sure I have seen Grandpa Nielson do this before!

Oh Mom, but it’s SO yummy!

Sunday Shots: Claire’s Version

Claire helped out with the Sunday shots this week.  Justin, Dad, and Rett were having a very important tractor meeting and no girls were allowed.

103_1602103_1603

So the girls decided to have our own meeting in Claire's room.  We wrote some letters to grandmas.  Claire was the photographer and pretty much bosses us all around most Sundays (most DAYS actually)

103_1604

The men must have finished their meetings, she got a picture of dad.

103_1606

I had to go down to Dietrich to speak at the wards young women in excellence.  Ryan was babysitting everyone, including Rett.  I had made a nice chocolate cake and the BOSS got into it while dad wasn’t watching apparently?!

103_1607

Good thing we have Claire around to keep us all on our toes!

Piano Recital

103_1588

Ashley and Emma had their fall piano recital, they both did really well.  The theme was Rags, Jazz, and Blues.  We just love Margaret, she is such a talented teacher, we feel fortunate to have her!

Sunday Shots

We got to have everyone over to our house Sunday after Stake Conference.  Cody and Whitny took a break from honeymooning to keep the tradition of opening their presents with the family.  I am glad the humored us, it was kind of them!  We (especially the kids) LOVED to watch them open everything.  They are such a great little couple, we are excited for them to be together forever!

103_1582

We were tired after all of the busyness of the days with cousins and sacked out for the evening on the couch, check out all of those kids we have!

The Reception

The reception turned out great.  The decorating was really nice.  We used the same lady that did Christine’s reception too.  I love the “tent” it really helps to soften and disguise the gym.  Her colors turned out really nice too.

103_1551

The kids clothes turned out perfect.

103_1532

Cody with the parents!  Shannon’s dress turned out really pretty too.

103_1540

We were sad not to have Jake there,(he travels a lot!)  but look at that handsome group!  That’s a lot of babies!

103_1542

Our girlie girls.

103_1544

I attempted some family pictures, it was a nice attempt…..

103_1545103_1546103_1547

Oh well, maybe next time!  I have so many pictures from the reception so I am going to spread them out over a couple of posts.  What a great celebration!!!
