Ashley’s School Project

In 6th grade we do 3 big projects in the last 6 weeks of school.  The first was the Einstein report, the second was a wonder (not like just the 7 wonders) but a wonder of the world.  She had Yosemite National Park.  (Then her last report will be about Yellowstone since we are going there on a field trip at the end of May)

Ash made a nice little diorama of Yosemite Falls and some of the forest.  It turned out good.

Of course once the glue gun was out everyone had to make their own.  It was a fun project.

At Mom’s

Mom has been asking me to help re-do this buffet since she moved.  We always run out of time on our trips.  This time we were determined to get it done.  I didn’t take any before pictures but it was that dark cherry kind of stain.  Trish and Erica put tape on the drawers specifying what was in each one, no worries though, they sanded off much easier than all of those stickers Kollin, Kiley, and I put on some of her other dressers…. the joys of children!  We will have to re-do those dressers on another trip.  I think it turned out just like her inspiration picture.  It makes me want to paint more!

And in it’s place.  We painted the top black, and painted the handles black.  It turned out great I think!

Kurt and Jill STAR in Aladdin!

We ran over to Adrian to see Kurtis and Jillian perform in Aladdin.  It was fantastic!  We were quite impressed with all of the actors.  Kurt was the Genie and Jill was Jasmine.  They both can sing like nobody’s business!  It was so fun, we were glad to be close enough to go watch. 

It was fun to see the old school.  I never went to it, but I remember going to lots of the older kids ball games there.

There Go My Bragging Rights!

I just plucked out my first gray hair.  The next picture is very disturbing….

See told ya.  I found it tonight when I was brushing my teeth poking straight up right on the top of my head.  I was the last of the sisters to get gray’s, I can no longer brag, boo!  I hope they don’t start coming in droves now.  The signs of aging just keep popping up everywhere, and I’m  not even old yet!  Here is to hoping my vision starts going next, then at least I wont have to see myself get old!  Ha!

Trucks!

Rett is loving tractors and trucks.  He refers to them all as trucks, or truck trucks.  He is a farm boy all the way through!  The neighbors rolled in to spread fertilizer and he got up in his front row seat!

Spring Time Weather

We have been hoping and praying for some moisture this spring.  We have had lots of wind and cold, but no rain.  There has been rain all around, but none for us, we are getting really nervous for farming this summer.  We had the potato rows that were marked out last fall disked under.  No potatoes in Richfield this summer, which is a big bummer. 

This morning it started spitting snow and rain, like it has in the past and I thought it wouldn’t amount to much again.  But this afternoon it really started to snow!  We were so excited.  Claire dug out all of her snow clothes and got to business!

I just love my tree.  It is such a pretty little Russian Olive.  Usually a wild unruly tree, but ours has been taken care of when it was younger and is the perfect back yard tree.  We love it, and it looked especially pretty in a coat of white!  We are hoping for more moisture still!

Tubalub

Rett loves to take a tubalub, it is one of the few words he can say really well!  I had barely gotten him out and dressed and he decided to get back in.  Tubbing isn’t so fun with your clothes on!

Mom’s Visit

Mom made a quick trip over this week (so nice that she and we can do that now!!)  She and Claire made strawberry jam all morning.  Claire was upset with me that I hadn’t taken any pictures of her jam.  So she took her own pictures!

Yumm-E!  Thanks to Grandma and Claire the freezer is stalked again for another month?  Hopefully more like two, this stuff goes so fast at our house!

Sunday Shots: General Conference, Rett’s Birthday

We always enjoy General Conference.  It is one of my favorite times of the year.  I learned lots!  We also had Rett’s birthday cake.  He thought it was pretty great!

Rett is 2

Rett has been acting 2 for quite a while, so it seems odd to me that he is barely turning 2.  I was hoping he would turn over a new, less wild leaf when he turned 2, but no, he is just as wild as he was when he was 1!  What a boy!

We have been waiting for him to tear into presents since before Christmas, he didn’t tear into them then because he was sick. We are happy he feels great now and loved his presents!

Ashley’s Sports Banquet

Ashley had her basketball awards banquet this week.  She got the energizer bunny award.  Which is not Ashley at all, except when she plays sports, she is quite aggressive and all over the place.  She did a good job this year, learning a lot.  We really liked her coaches to, Jandi and Kallee, were great.
