Sun Valley Trip

For the past 3 years our Simplot field man has invited us to the Simplot cabin for a few days of skiing and spa!  It is one of my favorite trips of the year.  Kids under 18 cant go, but nursing babies can.  I like this policy because it is fun to hang out with the siblings and spouses with out too many children.  Although we had 5 babies go this year!  We have had a baby boom in the Telford family!

Wynn liked sitting up in Presely’s bumbo.  He isnt quite ready for sitting up yet!

Jake is competing at the worlds greatest horseman competition.  It was fun to tune into it and watch him together.

This year all of the families on the farm went along with Tyler and Lain.  Bob and Sara just came up for the ski/spa day, her baby is brand new and she didn’t want to be away from home.  We stayed up way too late and had a great time!

Maiden Voyage

This brand new pivot crashed on its first time around!  Ryan was so frustrated, and embarrassed!  Of course it was a pivot right on the highway for everyone to see!  Sorry Honey!  It took them a while to get it figured out before it could go around correctly!

Wrecked:(

The enclosed snowmobile trailer was loaned to a friend to move his belongings from Arco to Boise.  He apparently fell asleep just outside of Richfield and ran off the road.  He managed to keep his pickup up right but the trailer completely separated the box from the frame.  The axels came off also!  It was a mess!  This picture is of his pickup still hooked to the frame, but no trailer!

IMG_1648

There is the trailer back there, the other side was completely ripped off and all of his belongings were scattered.

IMG_1647IMG_1646

Ryan took another of our trailers down to load his salvagable stuff on.  The kid came back and got the rest of his stuff, but of course had no insurance and wouldn’t return our calls.  The trailer was totaled, we got left with no trailer and a tow bill.  Really too bad.

Sometimes I just get tired of not seeing Ryan!  So Rett and I loaded up and went to work!  It was a good day to be together.

Ag Show Pocatello

We really like walking around at the Ag show.  The kids love the big tractors, and Holt Arena.  Ashley took some pictures way up at the top!

IMG_1213IMG_1212IMG_1211IMG_1209IMG_1205Pretty big “tractor show”  that’s what we call it!  We had a great little trip, cant wait to do it again next year!

Christmas Eve Shopping

Ryan insists he late till the last minute to shop, I know now that he is going to do it this way every year, so I don’t fight it.  We just go along with it and make a family day of it.  He of course cant just go into town with only the intent of going to walmart, no no no, that would be silly!  SO much to my embarrasment (not surprise, I don’t get surprised at much these days) we hauled a load to the scrap yard on christmas eve!  I sure hope this tradition does NOT stick!

An ugly load… with my suburban, with the entire family inside.  I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry….

Last Night of Beet Digging

I ran down to ride with Ryan one last time.  We had 24 rows left to dig when we ran out of time for the night.  I left the kids home and drove down by myself.  It was kind of fun, the diggers were rolling so fast, it was fantastic!

Chore Time

As the weather is getting colder, chores are getting harder and harder to want to do!  But it brings my heart joy to see my kids out there working!  Not happy, and arguing, but doing it!

I can still remember hauling 5 gallon buckets of something, probably grain to feed calves at our dairy and I was little then.  I hope they are learning that they can do hard things!  (notice the escape artist aka lawn mower in the back)

Harvest Is Over!

Ryan finished up harvest, about 2 weeks earlier than normal!  We have been so excited to have him around, normal human hours!  Story time is back, family dinners, family night, family scriptures, date nights, and house projects!  The kids are happy to set 7 places at the table for every meal!  Happy day!

Farming/ Game Day

Rett and I went one more day to help finish up the swathing.  He still loved being in the tractor.  It was nice that he was such a good boy.  I don’t say that very often about him!  He was happy to have not one hat, but TWO hats!

It worked out that we were working in Arco and the football game was in Mackay, just 30 minutes away.  I was happy for that.  There was a mix up in games, and game times, so we waited for a while and got home late, but the Tigers came out with the W.

Ash and her friend Emilee were the only cheerleaders today because all the volleyball girls had a game at home.  They did good for being in cold temps.  It has been a cold football season this year.  Last year we only had one cold game the rest were in the 70’s and 80’s.  Hopefully that means we will have a cold snowy winter!

A Week of Farming

Rett and I participated in a week of farming.  We ran the swather while everyone else was working in potatoes.  Rett was fantastic.  He loved not having to share the ipad or DVD player!  Besides all the trucks and tractors and animals we saw.  He is a farm boy!

The mountains got a little snow on them one day.

By the last day Rett was trying to take over.  He was pushing buttons from the first day and was ready to take over control by the last!  Not yet my son!

We love the scenery and being around all of the hustle of harvest it was a great week.

Phone Down

Ryan’s fancy indestructible phone has been destroyed!

100_1965

He didn’t know he lost it until he reached in his pocket to call me on the way home.   He had Aaron call it and they heard it ringing up under a roller.  It must have fallen out when he was leaning over a belt?  It had already had a crack in the screen and he needed to replace it but ran out of time before harvest started.  I cant believe it still would ring, but nobody was home!!

Big Nielson Reunion

Much to our dismay we drove to Washington!  We thought we were going to be done with that drive for a while, but not so.  We were happy to get to go though.  It will always be home.  We had lots of new cousins to meet and play and swim and have lots of fun!

100_1852100_1853100_1854

These little boys were dunking their heads in the buckets, they were so funny.  (Rett and Brad’s twins)

The weather was fantastic the first day.  Perfect for soaking yourself!

Michelle’s little girls were darling, just like their mommy.  They wanted their pictures taken too.  I was happy to oblige!

100_1860100_1861

Rett couldn’t get enough of the water.

100_1863

Bode brought every motorcycle he owns and shared with everyone.  Justin and Kurt took a few rides around out at the pool.

100_1864

I just love the landscape and scenery.  Who would have thought you could miss a hay shed?

100_1865100_1866100_1868

Emma could not resist Greg’s new born BIG baby.  I couldn’t resist him either.  He was so snuggly and cute!

100_1870

Rett found Aunt Tricia’s car door opened and helped himself in.

100_1871

I didn’t get any pictures of Justin he was pretty much MIA. We all had a great time and cant wait to get together with cousins again soon!
