Justin’s Basketball Ends

Justin had his last game on Valentines day.  He didn’t win one game, but had a great time and really learned a lot.  He was a bit to aggressive and had a few fouls.  He really rung one kids neck!  yikes!  Good thing they don’t keep track of fouls in elementary ball!

He got to play more than any third grader, I am pretty sure he was one of the coaches favorite, and he loved  that!

Emma’s Basketball Season

Emma painfully endured another basketball season.  It is so hard for me to believe that there are people out there (well even in my house in fact) that don’t like basketball!?  How is that possible!??  She says she will play next year too, I am happy.  I think she secretly must like it a tiny bit?

IMG_1263IMG_1262

She only had herself and Serena to play on the fifth/sixth grade team.  So they combined with the younger girls and made a team of 7 I think, not many anyway.  She doesn’t realize how lucky she is to get to play the entire game.  She thinks it’s the worst to not have a sub!  Funny girl!

Home Made Basketball Court

We are enjoying our cement and basketball hoop, and no snow….  I wish we could enjoy the no snow.  I have lived here for 14 years and never had no snow.  It really sad, and scary.  We are supposed to have a storm this week, I hope it snows a LOT!

Anyway the kids have been shooting hoops as much as they can.  It’s been fun.

Claire doesn’t even have her coat on!  It has been upper 40’s????

Emma’s Basketball Season

Emma started her season, much to her dismay.  She does not want to play and her mother cant understand why?  I cant believe that she doesn’t LOVE basketball!  She keeps making deals with me like, if I can put a password on my kindle then I will play.  I say DONE!  She is a funny kid.

100_2247

She looks like a giant because she is….  she only had her and her BFF who wanted to play out of the 5th and 6th grade girls so they have to play on the 3rd and 4th grade teams.  Its funny when she looks out at the other teams players and says wow, they are tall!  I just tell her Emma, you are much taller then all of them, don’t worry about it!

She shot three times at he last game but didn’t make any, maybe this week?  Meanwhile I keep hoping she will change her mind and start to love this game!

More Ball

Rett gets pretty tired of sitting at all of these games.  Well he really doesn’t sit at any of them.  He wants to RUN!  This season he has only been out on the court during a game once.  That is a great improvement from last year!  Oh that boy!

Ashley got to bring the ball down in this game, much to her (and my) surprise.  I noticed her in warm ups dribbling really well while being guarded, I was impressed with her improvement and noticed.  But then really noticed in the game when she dribbled it down with pressure on.  Way to go Ashley!

More Cheer and Ball

Another busy Wednesday for Ashley.  First a game, then wardrobe change and cheering for the boys game.  She loves it!

Busy Ashley

Ashley has been in full swing basketball/cheer season.  She loves it.  It has been so much nicer this year only having to go to school 4 days, we have Friday to help re-coup from the week.  Ash is getting so much better at both sports, its fun to watch!

Ashley’s Sports Banquet

Ashley had her basketball awards banquet this week.  She got the energizer bunny award.  Which is not Ashley at all, except when she plays sports, she is quite aggressive and all over the place.  She did a good job this year, learning a lot.  We really liked her coaches to, Jandi and Kallee, were great.

Last of The Basketball

We finished up our last elementary basketball games.  Emma was crying because she didn’t want to play.  I am not sure she will ever play again?  She does fine once she is there, just not happy to sacrifice her “days off.”

Serena, Julianne, Isabell, Emma, and Addy.

We normally have one other girl, but she was sick.  It makes it pretty tiring to play the entire game!

Ashley’s team did great, they won against a really good team.  Ashley took a couple of shots and had quite a few steals.  It was fun.

Maddie, Yadi, Shelby, Randa, Kendal, Ashley, ?, Jamie, ?.  You think I would know every kid in the school, but I guess I don’t!

They wanted to lift Ashley up for a picture too, funny girls!

We are happy to be done with basketball, and cheer.  Now we can focus on piano!

Saturday’s Basketball

The girls games didn’t go to well this week.  They both lost, by a lot.  It was pretty dis-heartening for Emma.  Not so much the loss but we only had 5 girls show up so she had to run the entire game!  She was so tired and sweating!  It was great for her, she just didn’t think so!  It was tough to want to run and work hard when we were loosing by 20 points.

Ash is totally different.  She is pretty aggressive and wants to play more but doesn’t get to, well not as much as we would like.  Her game was a hard one too, but she sure loves to play.

Saturdays = Basketball

We are into elementary basketball season.  Both girls are playing.  I have loved it this year, there aren’t many girls on the teams which equals lots of playing time, and lots of experience.  Emma was looking pretty tired in the second quarter but she got her second wind and lasted the rest of the game.  She likes it, all except the touching part.  She isn’t much for getting close, here is an example;

100_0921

They are in a huddle, well all of them but Emma.  She is a snuggly girl (with her mom anyway) but she did NOT want to be near anyone, including her friends.  She told me she realizes it and try’s to get close but just cant.  Poor girl.  She had a great time though her friend Serena made basket after basket, we are glad she is on our team!  It is always fun to play against cousins, Emma was talking it up with Megan every chance she got.

Ash played lots too, she is in better shape though and did good keeping up.  She was happy to guard a really good girl and kept her from scoring.  She only fell three times.  Her knees were finally all healed up, but aren’t anymore.  Grandma Telford was there and doctored her right up.  We have games every Saturday for 5 weeks.  I hope we can stand it!

Battle Wounds

Ashley had a rough game up in Fairfield.  I knew if I didn’t go to a game she would need me…  Rett has this nasty gagging cough (so he throws up) and I just couldn’t take him all the way up there.  (He is a thousand times better today)  Anyway Ash must fall down a lot?  I have never seen her fall in a game, but she has had a couple of burns on her knees, which I remember being normal for basketball, along with jammed fingers.  She has a couple right now and then she fell in the game twice and they started to bleed.  She came out of the game and her great coach bandaged her up and put her back in.  She really is a great person, I like her a lot.  Anyway Ash is pretty sore this morning and her knees look horrible!

100_0757

Lots of bandaids on from the game. Her friend Jamie told me that she did cry, Ash said she only cried because she didn’t want anyone to feel sorry for her, not because it hurt.  Funny girl.

100_0759

She iced them last night and this morning, she had to wear leggings to school because her jeans hurt to bad.  Hopefully she wont fall again, at least not until these have healed up.  I have to miss next weeks game too….  AND she took a shot in the game, I told her not to make a basket while I wasn’t there, but she did take a shot (which she never has before).  Hopefully Ryan can do ball game duty next week with her.

Vs. Ketchum

Ashley got lots of playing time in the game against Ketchum.  It was really fun to watch.  She is on defense here.  (our awesome babysitter Whitney is the ref)

More defense.

Wardrobe change:

I’m not sure what cheer this one is?

100_0741

She was tired and thirsty.

Hopefully they will get their uniforms this week.

Vs. Shoshone

Ash had two games this week.  It was fun to play at home.  She got to play against a couple of girls she knows, it was cute to see them chatting out on the court.  Here she is getting to business;

100_0709

This WAS the girl she was guarding.

100_0710

Luckily her little friend Cami subbed in and they are much more evenly matched!

100_0711

They were like, hey you are guarding me?  It was fun.

Emma’s Ballgame

Emma has finished up  her FIRST season of basketball.  She had a great time, besides the running, sweating part!  OH Emma!  It was really fun to watch her and all of the little girls.

103_2115

Time out (the Bishop was her coach)

103_2116

103_2118

She didn’t like to put her hand in the middle because everyone was wet and sweaty so she would put her hand on top, but not actually touch anyone, she is so sneaky!  What a girl!

103_2122

Rett trying to be paitent.  We have had some LONG Saturday mornings between all of the games.

103_2123

The 3rd and 4th grade team.  It was a great experience for our entire family!  Emma isn't real sure she will EVER play again, (she really cant stand the sweating part…..)
