Ashley’s class got to go on a field trip to Craters of the Moon. We haven’t stopped in for a couple of years. We have driven by lots and lots, but it was fun to go on some new trails and see some new things. We went on a major off trail hike (it was on a trail, but it was a rough trail). We hiked two miles in and then had to hike out too. It was up steep hills and down steep hills. I had no idea I was getting myself into a major hike! It was great though. The weather was warm but windy of course.
This shot is looking back to the highway, she is standing on a cliff right here and it dropped down into that lava flow behind her.
Some of her friends.
The whole class Ash is in the middle.
Ashley and her friend Emilee under this cool tree.
This is looking back towards Burley/ Twin Falls. There was the warmest wind coming up here off of the black craters, it was crazy!
This was one steep hill, there were many!
Hayden and Ashley this was called Snow cone. It was a smaller volcano.
There was still snow down inside of some of the craters.
This was climbing out of one of the caves.
This was a cool arch way we had to crawl under and out of to get out of the cave.
The time passed way to quickly. We had a great time hiking around and I liked visiting with all of the other Moms who went too. I love going on field trips with the kids, it is a special time to just be one on one. We all enjoy it!
