Valentine Party!

Emma had her party at school a day early so I was able to attend both her, and Justin’s.  We had a great time playing games and opening valentines.  The kids had to try to catch a pom pom on their nose which was covered in vaseline.  It didn’t work to well.

But it did make for  a funny picture!

Justin’s Work and A Valentine

Justin wrote an awesome story about Duck on a Tractor.  We loved it!  It went:

Duck drives the tractor to o the park and gos on the slide.  He picks up Jace and me and takes us to go swiming at the Shoshone swiming pool. Than we picked up Dillon.  Than we went to town.  Than we went to Walmart.  Than we bot toys lots and lots of toys.  Than we went back to the farm.  That’s where we went with Duck and the tractor.  (I love his drawings of our yellow house with the red door, he pays attention to details!)

He also brought home this great Valentine for Grandma Nielson.

Boy in A….

Watering can!  This sentence could be ended many different ways!

Rett is into everything!  We were at the church last night and he crawled under the stage where the tables go and some other little kids shut the doors on him.  It didn’t faze him a bit.  I had to drag him out from under there!  Wasn’t Kollin into everything when he was a baby?  Not that I would remember, but I thought everyone said that about him.  This boy reminds me of Kollin almost every day.  Fun boys.

Ryan didn’t have early meetings so we tried for a photo shoot,  it was a good try….

We played some games, finished up the homework, and had a nice quiet day.

Last of The Basketball

We finished up our last elementary basketball games.  Emma was crying because she didn’t want to play.  I am not sure she will ever play again?  She does fine once she is there, just not happy to sacrifice her “days off.”

Serena, Julianne, Isabell, Emma, and Addy.

We normally have one other girl, but she was sick.  It makes it pretty tiring to play the entire game!

Ashley’s team did great, they won against a really good team.  Ashley took a couple of shots and had quite a few steals.  It was fun.

Maddie, Yadi, Shelby, Randa, Kendal, Ashley, ?, Jamie, ?.  You think I would know every kid in the school, but I guess I don’t!

They wanted to lift Ashley up for a picture too, funny girls!

We are happy to be done with basketball, and cheer.  Now we can focus on piano!

Spokane Trip

Ryan and I just got back from our annual Spokane trip.  As un exciting as that sounds, it really is the hi light of the winter for us.  This year was no exception.  We took the kids to Mom and then flew out of Boise.  The first two days Ryan had Farm Credit meetings, which he really likes, this year they were really good.  I spent my days shopping!  There are 3 malls in Spokane and I was able to hit them all!  I shopped til I dropped, I had to even buy a new pair of shoes to keep up with all of my walking!  We stayed an extra day just to play.  We went to a hockey game which was fun, we hadn’t ever been to one before.  I got a puck!

The next morning Ryan wanted to go shooting, so we found an indoor range and shot till his heart was content.  I shot a few too, (as many as I could stand to)

Ryan has been shopping for a new handgun for quite a while so he thought he should try them out before he buys one.  We also did a little more shopping, eating, and even bowling.  We were the only ones under 70 at the bowling alley!  It was funny!  We spent the last evening at the Broadway Show Rock of Ages.  It was a little much for our taste, but the music was great!  We flew back to Boise Friday morning.  Mom and Dad met us with the kids.  Mom survived them for the week.  They had a great time and didn’t want to come home.

We had a great trip, we always sleep so good in those Davenport beds and love getting treated like kings!  It was fantastic!

Growing Baby

Rett is in a growth spurt.  I think because he was so sick last month and now that he feels good he is looking like a chunky monkey.  His clothes are starting to get a little snug too!

003

It is nice to have a busy, healthy, chubby little boy though!

Where’s All The Snow?

This picture is missing something….

004

As are our mountains!  I have never seen grass in the back yard since we have lived here.  I am afraid I am going to have to start mowing the lawn!  We are praying for more snow!

Sun Valley Trip

Simplot invited us to Sun Valley for the weekend.  Ryan and I had stayed at their cabin before when Ashley was a baby, so it has been a few years.  It was a great trip!  All of the brothers (and wives) on the farm came (and Mike and Shannon).  They wined and dined us for two days!  It was like a REAL vacation, it was fantastic!  On the second day we went skiing.  It was hard!  Everyone knew how to ski except me, so it was a tad (well a lot) embarrassing.  But I want to learn.  I just think I will have to try again at Pomerelle, where the mountains aren’t SO steep and SO long!  It took me almost 2 hours to get down the “easy” run.  It took Ryan about 3 minutes to get down it!  Oh dear, my legs were jello!  (and are still pretty sore!)  I did have to get on the gondola and go all the way to the top, I couldn’t resist!  Don’t worry though, I made sure I could ride back down before I got on! (This picture was from half way down the mountain already)  The views were amazing!

We had a great time visiting, kids weren’t allowed at the cabin, so it was just adults, we played games and laughed till our sides hurt!  The girls stayed up way to late catching up, but it was totally worth it!  We are so fortunate to have such good relationships with each other, I love them all!  I cant wait until next year!

So God Made a Farmer!

This was a Superbowl commercial that we loved.  It was read by Paul Harvey and had awesome pictures!  We loved it!  (and we miss Paul Harvey)

And on the 8th day God looked down on his planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker!". So, God made a farmer!
God said I need somebody to get up before dawn and milk cows and work all day in the fields, milk cows again, eat supper and then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board. So, God made a farmer!
God said "I need somebody that can shape an ax handle, shoe a horse with a hunk of car tire make a harness out of hay wire, feed sacks and shoe scraps. And...who, at planting time and harvest season, will finish his forty hour week by Tuesday noon. Then, pain'n from "tractor back", put in another seventy two hours. So, God made a farmer!
God had to have somebody willing to ride the ruts at double speed to get the hay in ahead of the rain clouds and yet stop on mid-field and race to help when he sees the first smoke from a neighbor's place. So, God made a farmer!
God said, "I need somebody strong enough to clear trees, heave bails and yet gentle enough to tame lambs and wean pigs and tend the pink combed pullets...and who will stop his mower for an hour to mend the broken leg of a meadow lark. So, God made a farmer!
It had to be somebody who'd plow deep and straight...and not cut corners. Somebody to seed and weed, feed and breed...and rake and disc and plow and plant and tie the fleece and strain the milk. Somebody to replenish the self feeder and then finish a hard days work with a five mile drive to church. Somebody who'd bale a family together with the soft strong bonds of sharing, who'd laugh and then sigh...and then respond with smiling eyes, when his son says he wants to spend his life "doing what dad does". So, God made a farmer!
