Outlaw Days Rodeo

The Telford men enjoyed the team roping this year again, all of the other events got rained out, well not all, I guess the Telford men got rained out! Ryan did good heeling, he did leg up though, he was kicking as hard as he could to catch up to the steer, his header roped the horns and then RAN! Ryan was like WHOA! Anyway, that is the fun of it I guess getting some guy you dont even know and have never roped with before and so you dont know his "techniques" if you could call it that. Ryan was sad. At least he still caught though.
out of the box, Ryan is on the sorrell horse (the red one with no white, for all of you non horse women, like me)

This is Jareds run, he did really well, they held the fastest time for a long time, He roped with an 11 year old boy, and then they were beat by a team that had an 8 year old boy! CRAZY, he is a 2nd grader in Ashleys class (my friend Kristens son.) Too fun, and funny! I think they need to have an under 12 category for the big money and then let the old men just rope for fun! Good times!Justin was TIRED, we watched the rest of the rodeo from the car.

Outlaw Days kids fun

The kids enjoyed some of their own rodeo events, we had some barrel racers:

And some goat UN-tieing:

And lots of (stick) horse riding :
Emma, Sydney, Justin

And cheering and watching:

And of course lots of business on the phone:

Outlaw Days (rainy) Parade

This year we participated in the parade, I was glad I got to ride in it so I didn't get poured on. The kids didn't want to ride though, they wanted to get candy, so they stood in the rain with Grandma and lots of aunts and uncles, and cousins. It was a Hawaiian theme, and it was just POURING rain, I cant believe anything stuck to the truck! Sara came up with our clever signs, (they looked so big on the kitchen floor) They said You say pineapple we say Potato! Then we listed all of the different farms and every single persons name in the whole family! 41 people in all! (plus two halves, on the way) CRAZY!
Claire wanted to ride, (or didn't have a choice) and she had her hand in the candy bag the whole way!

Here she is waving, can you say rodeo queen!

Watering

I love to water, I am really loving my green, green grass, it is so nice and soft now since we have had so much rain. I often find myself just sitting on the steps watching the sprinklers tick around, I don't know why it fascinates me, but it just does. I guess I am truly a farm girl at heart. I normally watch the sprinklers alone but this day I went out and found all four of my kids sitting on the steps watching the sprinklers:These are a few of my favorite things about summer!

Ashleys (not so fun) Adventure

Today we went to lunch at the school and then to the park to play with some friends, we were having a great time until Ashley needed to use the bathroom. She didn't want to go in the one at the park, its creepy and gross, but I told her to go in there anyway. After a while I told Emma to go check on her and make sure she was OK. Emma ran over and said "yeah mom she is still in there." I said, "well is she locked in or what?" So Emma ran back to Ash and then to me and said, "Yeah she's locked in." Crazy Emma, I was glad we were checking on her, it had probably been 10 minutes in the bathroom at this point. I went over and tried to get her to unlock it and it just wasn't coming. I called Ryan and he told me to get a key from the city office. When I got there they said, its locked again! I said Yes, and there is a kid inside! She felt horrible, she was scrambling to find keys and got me some and off we went. Another man who works there came to (THANKFULLY!) So he starts trying his keys and it still wont unlock! Ashley was keeping her cool really well, I kept asking her if she was OK and she kept saying yes, but she was getting a little hot, thankfully it wasn't too warm of a day. Anyway so the man asks me to tell her to move away from the door because he is going to kick it in! I told Ashley to get way back, and then he came back from his truck with a screw driver and popped it open, FFFFEW!!! Ashley came out and would not let go of me, poor thing, she was so brave, but I have never seen her grab on so tight! She had been in their for probably at least 20 minutes, maybe longer, poor kid! She said she did cry a little bit, I told her that is OK, I cried a little bit too! She's giving a thumbs up! And probably will hold "it" next time!

The BIG ONE!

Ashley and Emma have collected more worms than we know what to do with, so we of course had to take them fishing! I cant believe that MY daughters can touch, pull apart, and poke a hook through a worm, they are AMAZING! I love that they can do it and find it as much fun as the actual fishing part, so then I don't have to do it for myself! Ashley even took the fish off the hook and everything! It is just amazing too me, what well rounded girls we are raising! Ashley's catch

Emma's catch
The kids checking out Emma's fish, they didn't do anything pretty much the rest of the time except look at that fish, they hauled it all around and were very preoccupied the rest of the time. Needless to say we did not eat that fish! Ryan did catch the "Big One" and his brother, we couldnt believe how big they were for our tiny river, and in the swimming hole no less! I guess they were biting just right. We had a nice evening together, fun summer times!

Working in the yard

The kids and I got busy in the yard this week. We planted 4 new Colorado Blue Spruces, with our other sad evergreen trees, hopefully they will all start liking it in Idaho and get to growing! I so DON'T have a green thumb! This afternoon we tackled the weed patch that we call the rock garden, I should have taken a before picture, it had weeds up to my knees! YUCK! All the kids stuck it out the whole time, and helped me get it done, it was HARD work! Ashley wanted to get all of the plants just right so it would look like a magazine.....you know to match with the rest of our magazine yard and house.....HA, HA, its OK to laugh! It was a good afternoon.

Ashley modeling with her magazine rock garden.

Emma doing what Emma does best petting the dog, and having fun! (she thinks she is working)

Claire bear LOVES the lawnmower, (I cant blame her I do too) She successfully filled the front grill up with rocks, what a big helper! I didn't complain because it kept her happy for a good hour!Emma wanted to take a picture of us all working, Justin kept saying he was too busy to turn around, he was digging a hole. Such good helpers!

Rainy days on the Farm

We have thoroughly been enjoying this raining weather we have been having! Saturday Ryan took us to run parts with him and we had a great time spending the day with him. We ended up at this taxidermy show in Burley. The kids really liked it, some of the animals were amazing! These were bleached, they weren't albino or anything cool like that, but it was still cool.

This one got my vote for favorite, I love that show Deadliest Catch, where they fish for Alaskan King Crab, so I had to pick it, That is one of the only shows we watch anymore.

Claire bear loved these wolves, she was down right in their faces checking them out! I had no idea they were really that big, this was a cool mount too. (in my picture I cut off the mountain lion that they had treed)
We went out to grandmas afterwards and had pizza with everyone. Grandma and Papa of course were gone to Brookies baptism, but the rest of us who had to stay home all got together out there. (The massage therapist was in town and he comes out to the house to give all of the guys a good adjustment and massage, they all need it and wouldn't normally go have it done, so it is nice that he comes out like once a month.) We had a fun visit, Jared and Jenna came from Rexburg too, they came and spent the night at our house since grandma was gone. Our kids were tickled pink with excitement! They love Aunt Jenna, and Jared too!

Sunday after church we went down to Bob and Sara's to try out their brand new couches (and dessert!) They turned out so nice! And the food was yummy too! The kids played and played out side, it was a nice evening, it wasn't raining for the first time in 3 days! But it did rain in the night again. We are so fortunate to have family live so close, I LOVED growing up with cousins just down, across the field, I have lots of fond memories with them. So I am excited for my kids to get to have the same experiences! Lucky us!

Kristen's Baby Shower

One of my good friends Kristen had her baby shower last night. She is having a GIRL, how exciting for them. (They already have two boys!) We had a great time laughing and eating, Congrats Kristen and Family! We were loving all of that PINK!

Fun times!

This week on the Farm

This week we have been busy around the farm and yard. I got my lawnmower back from the repair shop. Some how it got gas in the oil, OOPS, I guess I did it seeing how I am the only one who runs it and fills it with gas. The oil is right below where you fill up with gas, so it really could have happened to anyone......right? It seems as though no harm was done and it mows like a champ again! We have been enjoying lots of rain, the canal district actually closed down the dam, so with no water running out and lots of water raining in I hope it starts filling up! Ryan has been planting (something I'm not really sure, oats or wheat, I think oats) for the neighbor and he didn't get it all done before he got rained out, which is too bad.

He and Justin spent all day on it yesterday while the girls and I went shopping. When I went to pick Justin up he had on his rain coat and nothing else. He had a rough time in the tractor, he spilled his juice on his pants, and can not stand to be wet so he took them off and then he wet his underoos, Poor kid, he was glad to see us pull up to rescue him!

Claire had her follow up appointment for her ear infections and she STILL has them. We are trying a stronger antibiotic and hoping it will clear up with that, if not we will go to a specialist, which means tubes in her ears. I hope she can get over it, but I am having my doubts, she woke up in the night last night, screaming, which she never does, but her boogery nose and eyes have cleared up, so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

The rest of us are good, the girls are playing like mad women and this morning toyland is showing signs of lots of good abuse. They are working on it and their rooms today. We hope to ride with Ryan down to Burley to run parts and tires and stuff that farmers do on rainy days.

Ashley's little cousin Brookie is being baptized today in Nevada, we wish we could have gone. It is hard to live far away from cousins. I better go supervise the kids, Justin is bothering EVERYBODY, sounds normal!
