Sunday Shots

We had a quiet Sunday, Ryan and the kids got out and played catch.

Little Brother is getting around  really well.  He saw the popcorn come out so he headed over to see me.

The horse even came to see what we were up too, I love that they do all of my edging for me!  I don’t have to weed whack anymore!

Claire bear was kitten taming, in her swim suit of course, I’m not sure she has worn anything else all summer.

Rett eats popcorn now I guess!

Church was really good.  We had good talks in Sacrament meeting.  One of the speakers taught us to take it one day at a time, which I loved, and need to hear!  It is all to overwhelming sometimes, but we can do it with the Lord’s help one day at a time!  I spent the last two hours of church in Nursery.  Rett isnt old enough to go yet but he will not sit in Sunday school so we hang out down in Nursery.  He does good, today he got tired by the end but it was still fun.  Cant wait until next Sunday!

Demo Derby

I heard on the radio that there was a demo derby coming to the Jerome County Fair and I thought the kids need to see one of these.  We went to quite a few growing up (well it seemed like one a summer, maybe it wasn’t that many, but we went until Dad couldn’t stand the cigarette smoke in our faces!  Which is nice now you cant smoke in public places…. anyway it was much more family friendly than the old days.)  We had a great time, it made me think of Kollin the whole time, the kids were really nervous, but liked it still.

We liked the American flag car best.

They also had a pickup pull off that was fun, but didn’t really work, they had the arena too wet and so they just sunk in the mud and couldn’t pull each other.  It was still fun to watch!

We left Claire and Rett with a babysitter, it was fun to just take the big kids.

More Fires

We have a fire getting closer to us.  I am so glad that we have corn and potatoes around us this year instead of all of that golden wheat like we had last year!

100_0164

We only have one field of wheat that is right up next to the desert.  This is still on the other side of the river and the highway, Ryan said it is about 3 or 4 miles away,  so I don’t think it will get to our desert, but it still makes me a little nervous!  Maybe all of that white snow isn’t so bad after all!

Ashley’s Ouch!

We have finally got our summer calves, now that summer is almost  over, but better late than never!  Anyway they came over in the old brown horse trailer which is becoming quite a hazard, but it can travel short distances.  The kids were climbing all over it trying to see their calves inside and I was just walking back when Emma came and told me Ash was bleeding.  Then Justin ran around the back of it and his eyes told me there was a LOT of bleeding, which he said there was too.  I didn’t hear any screaming but I hurried over and sure enough there was lots of blood!

100_0155

Once I could look closer at it I could see it wasn’t a big cut, thankfully, just a bad bleeder.  I even made her stay outside while I got the camera and some warm water to rinse it off with, by then she was barely crying.  This was how tiny the little poke was once we washed it all off.

100_0156

She was laughing in this picture because of the tininess of it, but it did still hurt and is pretty bruised.  She also filled her boot with blood, well she was actually wearing Emma’s boots which was funny too, well not to Emma but to the rest of us it was.

100_0157

I’ve never seen Emma clean so hard!  Here she is ten minutes later still trying to get it all out!  Funny girl.

100_0158

We were glad it wasn’t any worse and we wont be climbing on that old horse trailer with sharp pointy metal anymore!  We did get the calves all settled in too.

A Girl and Her Horse

Emma has been bitten by the American dream, every little girl needs a horse, at least that is what she thinks!

100_0146

She has begged all summer for her own horse (not that we don’t have a pasture full of horses).  Ryan pulled out a couple and she finally got to ride.  Ashley is scared of horses and cows, but even she got excited and wanted to ride too.  Justin was the only one (besides me) who wouldn’t get on.  Emma and Rett wouldn’t get off!

I hope the bug will pass, but I don’t know I am afraid we might have a horse lover (or two) in the family!

Fishing

We always try to fish a couple times a summer, and we just haven’t done it this year.  Ryan came in and told us to load up so we did!  We decided to go look up at Fish Creek Reservoir, and there was not much or no reservoir left.  It was all dried up!  We found a little water at the bottom of the dam but didn’t have any luck catching anything.  It was sad that there was NO water, but we didn’t have to fight the crowds for a good spot cause we were the ONLY ones there!  HA!  I guess we had to see it for Ryan’s sake!  I didn’t take any pictures there I spent all of my time making sure no one fell in that nasty water.  Rett pulled Claire’s hair most of the way there;

Big ol stinker!

100_0143

A smile from the red head (who now claims she doesn’t want to be called a red head anymore, I don’t know if we can stop, or if any of her uncles can stop!)

And Emma front and center, just like she likes it!

100_0145

I like little spare of the moment trips like this, they are the best!

Obnoxious

Little Brother has learned very quickly how to be obnoxious, and he does it very well, just ask Claire!

I think boys are just born with the teasing gene!

Telford Family Picture

DSCN7997

Jenna emailed over this great picture from our big hike at the vacation.  It turned out cool, this was where the river started out of the mountain.  What a fun family we have!  Thanks Jen for the picture.

Parade

We always love going to the parade and rodeo at the fair.  Ashley has started a tradition of making (well me making) outfits for the girls.  It really is fun.  Their dresses turned out cute and the parade was pretty good too!

100_0100

We got to keep Sidney most of the week.  Her family is super busy with animals at the fair so she got to stay with us.  I had just enough fabric for a dress for her too.  She was so excited to get to match the girls.

It was almost 100 degrees, in the sun it was probably hotter.  We found a tiny bit of shade while we waited.

100_0102

Rett finally took off walking.  He really likes it too and so do I!  He is by far my latest walker.  He is cruising now though!

100_0104

Pledging Allegiance to the flag.

So excited!

Fair Time

Justin helped me make jam earlier this summer so he could enter it in the fair, well we ended up eating it all before the fair got here!  I ended up just buying some more strawberries so he could make a small batch to enter.

100_0092

He got a first prize blue ribbon and a 5 pound bag of sugar, he was excited because now he has his own sugar for his cereal!  He and Claire also made cupcakes and both got blue ribbons.  Emma didn’t want to enter anything, I tried to get her to take a picture of the horses, but they wouldn’t cooperate.

100_0095

I did get her to pick some flowers from the yard and make a small arrangement, she also got a first prize blue.

100_0097

Ashley had framed a kitty picture, and entered her peas (and got a blue ribbon) and also entered some flowers.  She got red ribbons in those.  It was a fun week to play and play at the fair.
