CSI Great Pumpkin Race

I wanted to run this race all summer long, but when it got cold I wanted to change my mind!  I went ahead and signed up, but didn’t run like I should have at home and finished how I figured I would finish.  It was a nice day, I have no excuses other than I just didn’t practice enough!  I am happy to hang up my running shoes until next year when the weather is warm!

Filer 5K

I ran my second race this summer.  It was a small fund raiser for a children’s hospital.  I was glad to get another chance at it and improved my time by a couple of minutes.  I finished about 6th in the women and had a time of 31.09.  I was really most excited to be able to run the entire race!  Ryan took me down and I knew I couldn’t walk or he would be disappointed so I trudged on!  It felt great…. afterwards!

Ryan was really worried with my take off because I was the LAST person, even behind the walkers.  I don’t know when I passed them all, but I must have somewhere along the coarse because I came in before they all did.  I guess I was just in the zone, that’s one thing I really love about running is it is such and individual thing, it doesn’t matter who you pass or what place I come in, I just want to improve myself.  It’s great!

Here I come, in for the big finish!

Atomic Days 5k Run

Paige invited me and our sister in laws to run in a race with her.  So about 6 weeks before the race I started running, and running, and running! The first day I ran I made it and 1/8th of a mile so I had lots of work to do!  I finally ran the whole 3.1 miles a week before the race.  It was cool.  I was happy to get this chance, it was quite and adrenaline rush!

I ended up 3rd in my age group, that was a HUGE surprise, maybe there were only 3 of us in my age group??  I don’t know how many there were, here is my time:

I was 33rd overall, I think there were around 60 runners?  I was really happy with the hole experience anyway!

We had an excellent cheering squad.  Ryan’s parents were there and all of our families were there to cheer us on.  It helped lots!  I cant wait to do another race.  It was such a fun experience!

Our Days Lately

Today we got Ryan off to work before 7, the girls on the bus before 8, (the bus was a little late) and the kids and I to the church for our morning workout at 8:30. We have begun our winter work out again this year and it is better than ever! I am really excited about all of the girls who are coming; and we are strictly following the slim in 6 program, it has been really good! It occured to me today that maybe they meant slim in 6 months though, not 6 weeks, I hope not! It has been fun for me and the kids.
We are trying desperately not to get sick. I don't know why we don't let school out before the whole town is sick, instead we wait until EVERYONE has the flu, then we let everyone stay home, it is such a hard decision. I cant keep the girls home when there is nothing wrong with them, instead I wait for another kid to sneeze on them and then I let them come home and infect all of the rest of the family! I am a little upset with it all. Hopefully it isn't going to be as bad as it seems, everyone is just paranoid.....right?? ANYWAY, it has been on my mind constantly lately, then to decide to be vaccinated or not, so if I decide I am, I cant get a shot until November, that is lovely, after we already all have it...don't think that will work!
On a lighter note we went and rode with Ryan in the tractor today. He spent most of the time broken down, figures. I did pick up my grape juice that Shannon taught me how to can. It is so yummy! And Sara and I had fun learning to can it! The kids and I created a pretty sorry looking scare crow after school, he is quite pathetic, but it will have to do for this year. The kids were so worried about using Dads clothes. Justin asked if he would be mad at us. I told him they were old wranglers with holes in the knees and a shirt he never wears anymore, so he wont be mad. Justin was still worried.
I am off to Arco tomorrow to get the kitchen moving and load up some more potatoes for people around town who need them. I am also getting ready for a fun pedicure party this Saturday (@ 10 am). If you haven't got an invitation, take this as it! I am getting lots of chocolate and yummy treats put together for it, should be a fun girls day. It must be time to eat, Claire just said she needed dinner....big girl!

I heart basketball

We have been playing basketball on Tuesday mornings just to change up the regular workout routine, it has been good and fun. It is hard to be at the church at 5:30 am, but it is so nice to work out with out the kids. We just go for an hour and then are back to get everyone up and ready for school and work. This morning was fun we actually had enough girls to play full court. There were five of us. We played 2 on 3 and the three of us lost. One of the two played college basketball and is still AMAZING, so it was really no contest. It was a good workout, an excuse to run. I have been eating all of the left overs from the weekend and so I needed a good workout!
We are just staying around home this week. Ashley and Emma are doing the Missoula Children's theater this week and are excited to be in the play. They are doing the little mermaid. Ash and Emma are both dancing seahorses or something like that. They actually had to audition this year, some of the kids didn't make parts, it was so sad, I was not prepared for that so I am glad that both of my girls made it. There were lots of little kids in tears. They rehearse for a week and then perform on Friday. I am excited for them to be able to participate in something other than sports.
We are off to story time in Shoshone this morning, hopefully Ryan will be moving his potato operation down to the cellar here, I am excited for him to be working close to home for a couple of days anyway. He is over a week past his regular sugar beet planting, I don't know when he will finally get in the field and start planting, hopefully soon. I wish the wind would quit blowing and our spring weather would come back, it is so burry cold!
