All is Safely Gathered In

Harvest has finished. Ryan came home and told me all of the crops are harvested for 2008! YEAH! Words cant describe how elated I am! I have loved having Ryan around more and he is such great help to have around! He can pretty much do it all, even a diaper here and there! (only wet diapers of course) I am so happy to have had a safe harvest season and that all of the crops yielded well and that we can move on to the next chapter in our lives....VACATION! I wish! Here are a couple of pictures from the sugar beet harvest, we only rode with him one day, He was so determined to get finished quickly, I think he dug in record time, which makes us all happy!Justin with his set of 'equipment'

Claire riding on the lunch box.

Cody is in the digger ahead of us.

Here they are loading into one of the trucks!

Look what Ashley WON!

Ashley entered a drawing at the local Cenex and she won! She won a big brown Halloween bear. The kids hauled it all around the house all night, even Claire rolled around with it for a while, you want to know how I could tell? Because it SHEDS worse than and LIVE animal I have ever seen! Emma came in the kitchen after playing with him and I said what is all over your shirt? It was everywhere, I had to take all of Ashley's bedding off and wash it all! It is kind of sad because I am a mean mom and now they cant play with the big Halloween bear! Oh well he is still fun to look at. Ashley hauled him all the way to school for show and tell. I am sure her teacher was thrilled with me!

Love those WASHINGTON Apples!

Mom and Dad were able to come to our house for an over-niter (Halloween night). They were on their way to Kiley's house in Nebraska to help with her re-model. They had a BIG load on their pickup, I bet they didn't get very good gas mileage! In their big load was 7 boxes of apples for me! We spent all day Saturday making apple sauce. It was a hard job. I was glad Ryan could come in and help me, He ended up doing most of the work, (don't tell him that!)

I have a hard time staying on task with distractions like this; not to mention lunch, etc, etc. So he worked really hard at it. We finished just in time to attend the adult session of Stake conference. Ryan had to speak in the Priesthood session. I heard he did a good job. I just love when stake conference comes around, especially the adult session because I don't have 4 little busy bodies to distract me from the good talks. It was a good meeting, and a good day, we ended up with 35 quarts of apple sauce! Thank you Mom and Dad!

Emmas Halloween Adventures

Emma partied it up this Halloween season. Her super fun teacher did a witches brew that goes along to a cute song and so she assigned each kid to bring something from the song to put in the to the witches brew. Emma got mucky muck, which translated into cow manure. How did we get cow poop to school you ask? I put it in a Ziploc and then into a brown lunch bag, the worst part was Emma brought it in the house and was flinging it all around, luckily the bag didn't spill open! GROSS! When Ashley was in K. she had to take the rotten eggs, that was interesting too! It was a really smelly witches brew with all sorts of yucky ingredients, but with the right magic words it turned into a yummy drink, and the kids just LOVED it!

Emma also got to go with her class on a field trip to the pumpkin patch. I got to go too, it was nice to have mommy and Emma time, (this time is very important to Emma). The patch was really fun, they had all sorts of things to climb on and slide down or ride in. The kids ran around there for a while and then we went to have pizza. After we got back to the school we had the class parties. I didn't get to help with Emma's this time but I did help in Ashley's class, and I forgot to take any pictures, we were to busy playing games and eating good food and candy!

Halloween Carnival

We participated in our annual PTO school carnival this year, we had lots of fun keeping the duck pond running, I am positive they give me the easiest booth, which I am very grateful for! Anyway the kids had lots of fun going from booth to booth winning prizes and checking out all the super cool costumes, I think they enjoyed that the most. Emma won a cake at the cake walk, and obviously some pretty yucky teeth too;

and Justin was one of many winners in the costume contest. He makes a pretty cute Mater I think! He loved the 'sharp teeth' that he won at one of the booths.

Ashley is a Cheetah girl, I cant remember which one, she was very specific on which girl she was... Emma was one of MANY Tinker Bells, she didn't mind, she thought it was cool, and Justin was Tow Mater, Claire didn't dress up that night, she was a bunny though. I am proud to say that I have already purchased their next years costumes at a 75% off sale! Yeah for me. I spent $6.25 on their costumes, including the accessories! I love a good deal!

Ashley's Funny

Tonight at dinner we got talking about our turkey (he is a crafty wooden turkey) who has a sign around his neck that says 'eat beef.'
So Ashley says 'Mom I know why his sign says eat meat',
I said 'No it says eat beef.'
She said 'Oh yeah, beef, that's because he doesn't want us to eat him.'
So Emma says 'Mom are we beef?'
I said 'No we are not beef.'
Ashley totally sincere and in her no-it-all voice says 'No Emma, we are chicken.'
I about died laughing, I am still laughing, I love to see my kids learn things that I think they should just automatically know, it is an amazing and sometimes really funny thing! Kids say the darndest things! Anyway we had a good conversation about where meat comes from and that we are human, and we don't eat humans! Funny kids!

Girls Night at the Movies!

Ashley and Emma each got to invite a couple friends to go with them to opening night of High School Musical 3. It was so fun! I am not sure who had more fun, me are the girls. First we went and ate and played and then we went off to the movies! It was a really cute show, Ashley and her friends did good, they didn't say a word during the movie, Emma on the other hand was more interested in seeing what was going on outside of the theater. We got popcorn, bathroom, and then she just couldn't stay comfy during the show, not to mention all of the 5 year olds got a little tired by the time it was over! The movie started late so you could imagine how the theater was sounding with all of those restless little girls, so when it did start they all were cheering and clapping, it was cute! I did cokes one other mom to go with me, (thank goodness) I would have had a hard time with me and 7 little girls, but she helped me out a ton, Thanks Tasha! It was a super fun night, we all were tired and ready for bed....well before we even got home! (I'll post pictures when my internet decides it can....so frustrating!)

Just swinging

Claire LOVES to swing, we discovered this just a few days ago when Emma was pushing her outside. She was laughing so hard, as you can tell. Justin seeing all of the fun thought he would try it, he does try to swing from time to time because it does look so fun, but he STILL doesn't like it, poor kid, He is just terrified of swinging. Who doesn't love to swing? I guess Justin doesn't, he is willing to try every once in a while and gets all excited but then he is quickly reminded that he does not like it at all and he really panics and starts crying! I guess he just prefers his feet planted firmly on the ground! Not a happy Boy!

Sunday afternoon, Checking Cows

The past couple of Sunday afternoons we have loaded up on the four wheeler and gone out to put horses away, check cows, fence, water, whatever has HAD to be done on the Sabbath. We actually all enjoy going out, and the kids love the ride. This time I remembered my camera so I took a few pictures of the 'sights' Our poor 'cow dog' got chased most of the time he was out with the cows. He is all bark and no bite! Here is a picture of him resting because he seriously got chased hard by those mean ol momma cows! They are quite protective!
It was a nice evening for a ride!

This one got to pooped by the time we got home!
